My Story
Art, in all its forms gives life to the world and brings people from different walks of life together. It is through art that we can understand and appreciate each other's cultures and traditions. I am a self-taught visual artist who is dedicated to capturing the beauty of people and cultures from all over the world.
I was born and raised in Kingston Jamaica and I grew up with a love for art, spending hours drawing as a child. While studying fashion design in college I learned to combine my love of visual art with fashion. However, I never considered myself to be an artist until I began traveling. It was during my travels that I was exposed to different cultures and ways of life. I was particularly fascinated by the art and traditions of indigenous people.
Documenting my travels through art, I sketch and paint people from different cultures while capturing their unique beauty and spirit. I often use my paintings to tell the stories of the people I’ve met and my work is infused with a sense of hope and optimism. Characterized by vivid colors, bold patterns and occasional textures, my work varies in approach with a blend of mixed media incorporating traditional techniques while using both oil and acrylic paint. My artwork has been exhibited at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, displayed in various galleries, and featured in art shows across North America. Additionally, my custom accessories and one of a kind pieces were worn by several international music artists and featured on runway shows and artist showcases in South Florida.
Art is a tool for self expression, it connects people and that can be used to make a positive impact on the world. I believe art can play a powerful role in promoting understanding and tolerance between people of different cultures. I’m also a strong supporter of self-taught artists, and believe that everyone has the potential to create great artwork.
